Down in Rakdos Liked Christmas a lot…
But Garruk, Who lived just North of Rakdos Did NOT!
How the Grinch Stole Christmas is my favorite Christmas cartoon. It’s probably because the main character of the entire story is the villain. With Christmas Eve tomorrow, I thought a Christmas-themed deck would be a fun way to spread some holiday cheer. Even though Gruul is coming out in Gatecrash, it doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun in R/G for the holidays.
How Garruk Stole Christmas

“I know just what I’ll do!” Garruk cinched up his belt.
And he attached a fake beard, and a new wolfskin pelt.
And he chuckled and grinned, “What a great little trick!”
“With this beard and this pelt, I’ll look just like Saint Nick!”
Looking at Garruk, I don’t think he’s exactly a great thinker. I could see him trying to dress up like Santa and end up dressed as Huntmaster of the Fells
“If I can’t find a reindeer, I’ll make one instead!”
So he called to his dragon. Then he took some red thread.
And he tied a whole tree on top of his head.
Our friend Garruk doesn’t mess around with little dogs. Instead of a reindeer, he’ll use Thundermaw Hellkite to pull his sleigh.
Then he slithered and slunk, near and far did he seek,
Past the Border of Rakdos, around a corner he peeked!
He took every gift, took them all for himself!
He ripped down the garland and stole their Elf on a Shelf!
Yes, even Borderland Ranger, Farseek, Arbor Elf, and Zealous Conscripts are in our Christmas story with Garruk.
Then he slunk to the kitchen. He took Rakdos’ feast!
He took the plum pudding! He took the roast beast!
The roast beast is what gave me the idea for the deck. Pillar of Flame, Mizzium Mortars, and Bonfire of the Damned would make sure that Thragtusk was roasted to perfection.
